Mindful tour at British Museum

October 10, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm BST

From Museum’s website:

The Museum’s collection is rich, varied and vast. In a world full of information, it is sometimes challenging not to get overwhelmed.

To mark World Mental Health Day and as part of the 2019 Mental Wealth Festival the Museum offers a guided tour that blends exercises from the world of mindfulness and meditation with visits to different galleries, both busy and restful.

Your tour guide, Lucia van der Drift is a teacher and writer in meditation, mindfulness and Buddhism, with a keen interest in aesthetic appreciation.

She has more than 25 years experience training groups and individuals. She has led retreats in the UK as well as in the US, Sweden, Estonia and Holland.

Lucia has been practising for more than 20 years, and has been teaching mindfulness and meditation in different settings for more than 15 years. In 2014 she worked closely with architects from Studio Buschow creating new premises for the West London Buddhist Centre, conducive for contemplation and spiritual practice.

In 2005 she published a book featuring Buddhist images from the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden. For a number of years she was a freelance writer for various magazines, focusing on art and antiques.

She is an inspiring teacher, brings a sense of joy and lightness to her work and is very skilled interacting with people. She is co-founder of LIMINA Collective, specialised in bringing together art and audiences through mindful engagement.

Presented in collaboration with the City Lit as part of the Mental Wealth Festival.
